Hi there, I'm Mia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
Where It All Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t part of the grand plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more complicated than they should have been.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning through doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created Harbor Ember Haven
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Switzerland.
What This Website Is About (And What It Isn’t)
This site is:
- Pragmatic insights from life in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- An official tourism resource
- A paid-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Switzerland goes on, and the learning process continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Mia
